But Are You in My Cross-Line?
Collaboration — Not Competition
A woman’s instincts are very different from a man’s.
When a woman is threatened, she gathers her loved ones close and leans into her tribe for support. She offers help to anyone else who is affected. She protects her loved ones by working within a group. She is inclined to seek compromise.
And when a friend is hurt, she’ll share the pain. A woman will relate a similar experience she’s had so that the hurt friend won’t feel alone.
A man will protect his loved ones by divide and conquer. He’ll delineate enemies. He’ll stand alone.
A man will tease a friend who’s down. He’ll encourage his friend by challenging him, and goading him.
A woman thrives on collaboration but a man thrives on competition.
Call it sociology or bio-chemistry, we all know that in very broad strokes, these are common differences between men and women.
Are MLM’s Collaborative?
The MLM structure of pyramid, appears to be based on collaboration because of the inherent motivation to help your downline succeed. It seems like this is ideal for a woman. But are MLM’s collaborative?
In many companies, each hierarchy is unto itself. Members are very aware of each other’s genealogy. You can’t attend certain training if you aren’t in the right downline. Leaders only train their own downlines. You might pay extra if you can even get the training.
How many women will only help a friend if she meets certain criteria? Do you only help a new mother if she is a member of your church?
Of course not.
When MLM’s are hyper-aware of each person’s genealogy, the pyramid structure can be very competitive.
But it doesn’t have to be so.
If a company embraces the idea that everyone should be a success, regardless of genealogy, the pyramid structure returns to the collaborative structure it was meant to be. People higher in the pyramid reach down and give a helping hand to people below.
Women can help each other naturally, without false restrictions, without asking whose downline you’re in.
The pyramid structure in a MLM’s commission plan can be very woman-centric when used correctly.
